Monica started playing sports in the second
grade. She played basketball, softball, Tae Kwon Do and bowled.
She has played AAU basketball for six years and was the
starting point guard on McKnight Middle School team all three years.
Monica has played for Puget Sound Flight for the last 5 years being
chosen for the top team (Blue) in 2006 and again for 2007.
Hazen High School - Golf- a member of the Varsity Golf team and lettered 3 years, received the “Coaches Award” (Frosh), alternate for state (Soph), Seamount First Team All Academic and Scholar Athlete awards as a Freshman, Soph, and Junior. Seamount League 2nd team (Soph), Seamount League 1st Team and state qualifier (Jr) awarded "Captains" award (Jr) Basketball - Freshman - Varsity team's starting point guard averaging 13.4 points and led her team to a 2nd place win in the Seamount Division. She was named “Prep Player of the Week” and was named to Seamount All League First Team as well as receiving the “Coaches Award” and Scholar Athlete award. Sophomore - Varsity starting point guard and team captain. Named "Prep Player of the Week", was the Seamount League point leader averaging 19 points with a career high 37 points, named to the Seamount All League First Team, received Hazen HS "MVP" award and Scholar Athlete award. Junior - Varsity starting point guard and team captain. Currently averaging 21.8 points per game. Named "Prep Player of the Week", named To the Seamount All League First Team, Received Hazen HS "MVP" award and Scholar Athlete Award. Track - a member of the Varsity Track team and lettered as Freshman, Sophomore & Junior. Competes in high jump, long jump and triple jump as well as some sprints and relay races as needed. Is Jumping Captain as a Junior She has been chosen for the All Star Team at June Daugherty U of W Hoops Camps in 2003-2004-2005 and one of the top 10 in camp in 2005. Was chosen "TopGun" at Western Wash Univ team camp 2004. Honorable Mention, HoopGurlz.com, All Freshman Team for Wa state 2005, Named Top Ten Freshmen (all sports) for South County 2004-2005, named one of the top 5 point guards to watch in 2005-2006 by the Seattle PI. and named one of the Top Five Players To Watch as a Junior by the South King Co Journal for 2005-2006. Is listed as one of the Top Recruits in Washington for the Class of 2008 by www.hoopgurlz.com Monica is also active at Hazen High School as a Link Crew Leader, Member of the Spanish Club, Highlander Club, TATU - Teens Against Tobacco Use, Voted Junior Prom Queen and newly elected Co-President of Girls Club for 2007-2008. |
