Nanda is clearly an accomplished athlete, having played varsity basketball, soccer, and track in each of her three years at Shorewood.  She has started for Shorewood in basketball since her freshman year.  As a freshman, she was named The Most Improved Player, and helped her team achieve Wesco Champs as well as qualify for state.  Her sophomore year, she was voted All Wesco Honorable Mention and Best Defensive Player on the team.  As a junior, she helped her team qualify for the district tournament, was named to the All Wesco 1st team (guard), and was MVP of her team.  In soccer, in her freshman year, the Thunderbirds won state.  Her sophomore year she was named 1st Team All Wesco, and the team was Wesco Champs.  Her junior year, she was a co-captain and earned 1st team All Wesco along with 1st Team All Area (3A and 4A).  The team was also Wesco Champs and went to the state tournament placing top eight.  Since her freshman year, she has been on the 4x200 and 2x100 relays and has qualified for districts all three years.  She also qualified and placed at districts in the high jump her sophomore year.  Her junior year, she was the Wesco champion in the 300-meter hurdles and placed third in the 100-meter hurdles.  She recently was chosen by the Seattle Times as one of the five finalists for the 2001-2002 Female Athlete of the Year.  Nanda is the photojournalism editor for the school annual, she coaches youth soccer teams, and she is an intern for a middle school PE/Health class.
